Obsession

I'm about to unload one of my obsessions on youand it might surprise you.

TripAdvisor, Open Table and Yelp.  I'm obsessed with reviews on restaurants, hotels, tours, cities, businesses, etc.  I've become obsessed with writing my own reviews too.  I used to just read reviews but I felt like I was cheating.

Very cool fact...TripAdivsor gave me a discount code for a free Shutterfly book for all of my reviews!  I can't wait to see what they give me after another 25 contributions.

Try it out.  You'll be hooked, if you aren't already.

Busy

The past few weeks have been the busiest since we've moved to NOLA.  Vik's intern year was wrapping up which meant end of the year parties, graduations and graduation parties.  Vik completed a one year internship in internal medicine and that gets him one year closer to being an ophthalmologist!  I could dedicate an entire post to being an intern's wife...maybe one day.

Future Ophthalmologist and Wifey at Cafe Amelie
We attended an ophthalmology graduation party, hosted by one of the graduate's family, at Cafe Amelie.  Amelie is known for its beautiful courtyard and delish menu.  We were just drinking on this particular occasion.

The graduate who was hosting the party actually proposed to his long-time girlfriend so that added to the excitement of the evening.

We ended up ending our late night at Lucy's Retired Surfer's Bar.  The only reason I like Lucy's is their watermelon, basil margarita.  Yumba!!  Although half of the time they are out of the ingredients.  The location of Lucy's is in the Warehouse District so it's off of the beaten bath but it's always crowded and loud.  Why is it that we all talked about hating Lucy's but we always end up there?!  It is easy to get a cab home though.

Our next event was ophthalmology graduation and dinner at Broussard's, the epitome of old, French Quarter, white linen dining.  We had a really nice time watching the graduates receive awards, diplomas and recognitions.  I couldn't help but think that in just 36 months, we will be there celebrating Vik and his 7 classmates.  The program director came to our table to say hello and reminded them that time will fly by and they will be here before they know it.  So hard to believe but we are so looking forward to it!
Us at Bouche

After graduation we headed across the FQ
to the WD for one of Vik's classmate's engagement party at Bouche.  Our for one of Vik's classmate's engagement party at Bouche.  Our first time here also.  They have a super cool wine cellar, a cigar room and also a full menu and bar.  We didn't indulge in the hors d'oeuvres that were served b/c we had just eaten but we heard raving reviews.  We want to go back one night for dinner b/c their booth seating has curtains and they have private dining rooms which look very fun.

Vik, Shalin, Jennifer, Lisa, Jamie and Neel
The next night was our First Anniversary so I'll dedicate an entire post to the year old wedding cake.

This past weekend we spent a late night at the W Hotel's Whiskey Blue Bar and Goldmine Saloon.  We ended our weekend on the Pontchartrain Lake, a well deserved relaxing day with friends and a good 'ole crab and crawfish boil.

I'm not sure our checkbooks and bodies can handle more weekends like those...
